At the Free Minds Dinner with our Leadership Circle last month, we told Henk Jan Beltman, inspired impact entrepreneur and former Chief Chocolate Officer and co-owner of Tony's Chocolonely, what drives him and what he believes in. We have to make the world a more beautiful place, it is not an option as a business not to do it, we have depleted the planet and we have to work to bring this back into balance.
In an intimate setting we enjoyed Henk Jan Beltman's story and talked about social issues. Is it something we do or are allowed to do enough? Or do we immediately pass judgment on something or someone? Taking the lead and standing up for something requires courage and that is what Henk Jan showed us.
What made this evening so special?
The curiosity about each other, listening to different perspectives, feeling urgency and expressing hope. And as Henk Jan so beautifully said, "If you can take responsibility, you should do it. Who else will do it? This takes guts and it takes always getting up just once more than you fell."
